Yes, his kingdom is small, because Ben is an elf and Holly is a fairy and are also tiny. But it is a kingdom rich in adventures and with fun characters living in.
«Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom» is a series of british animation aimed at children, created by Mark Baker and Neville Astley in 2009 and produced by Astley Baker Davies, the promoters of the world famous » Peppa Pig «.
In this small kingdom Ben is one of the great tree elves and Holly is the princess and apprentice magician, although not always spells out fine.
This series really likes to the little in house, possibly for its striking color and because the stories are simple, fun and easy to understand for children. As my niece five years old says: «I like it because you can find out whether or no elves exist and there are also humans».
Ben and Holly are friends and share adventures in the series. And one of those fun experiences led them to visit a hive.
In this episode, during a picnic, we discovered that Holly’s father, King Thistle, who is very fond of honey sandwiches, but yet hates bees. Says without hesitation that bees do nothing good and that honey bees are not the one to fill honey in the jar.
All are very surprised of the ignorance of the king and asked if he did not learn in school what the bees are engaged. And he confirms that he went to a school where kings were taught mainly to greet people by hand.
Mr. Elf explains to everyone how bees collect nectar and Holly tells excited: I would love to see a beehive !. The king took the opportunity to ask Mr. Elf to get him a jar of honey.
The hive which visit Ben and Holly has a door, but surprisingly bees access to the interior through a hole in the top ( Will not the rain flood the hive t?). Easily recognize the queen bee because it is huge and takes a beautiful crown on her royal head.
The beekeeper elf asks Nana to do a magic spell to sleep the bees, so you can easily go to get some honey. But Nana did it wrong and let the elf slept like a log.
Once solved the misunderstanding, the beekeeper elf, disguised as a bee, in order to go unnoticed and to fill the jar of honey for the king. A helicopter elves introduces the elf thorough the top hole, holding it by a cable. It looks like a scene from «Mission Impossible», but in cartoons.
While the elf is filling the jar with honey, bees wake up and cornered the beekeeper elf, which is speeding away. But the bees confused the elf with their queen and a swarm persistently pursues him through the sky.
Then he decides to take refuge in the castle, but bees are swarming around. Finally, the beekeeper elf do not find another solution that to throw the costume to the hive to confuse bees and being able to escape.
A very visual and easy message for kids. We tell our beekeepers to disguise as a bee and try to taste honey. Maybe they will get unnoticed by bees and can spare a few bee stings …
